Work With Me

Counseling or Coaching?

Which one is right for you?

Counseling is like archaeology. It is therapeutic in nature. We dig through the past, its hurts, situations, traumas, and the negative belief patterns that evolved from that. We process how the past has and is affecting you in your present. Through evidence-based practices, we treat and resolve the mental health issues that are keeping you stuck.

Coaching is more like architecture. It starts from a foundation and builds upward through client-identified goals. It is solution-focused, collaborative, and less structured than counseling.

Counseling takes a deeper look back and moves forward to the present.

Coaching is focused on the present and future, though we can glance back.

Who do you work with?

Counseling

I counsel ages 10 and up. Tween and teen, young adults, and adults.

While I specialize in anxiety, ADHD, and trauma, I also treat general issues such as depression, life transitions, grief, school-related issues. I am very functional in my approach which aims at getting to the root of the issue whether it be spiritual, mental, or biological.

Coaching

I coach 18 and over. Areas of coaching include but are not limited to: spiritual formation and women’s issues, adulting, and life issues causing minor anxiety.

Once out of college a person’s world can get very stressful and daunting, and some young people have a difficult time leaving the nest. I help young adults transition into the adulting phase of life through equipping them with the confidence and personal beliefs necessary to launch into their next season.

Another area of coaching that is close to my heart, is that of spiritual formation and women’s issues. Helping women flourish in every season of life and find their purpose again is very fulfilling.

Most Commonly Asked Questions

  • If you have never been a part of counseling, you might be nervous.  That is totally normal! Counseling can be fun, and it can also be hard work because change takes effort.  For some it is a relief ~ it's a chance to unpack the emotions that have been stuffed inside for so long. It is a safe place to express your thoughts and feelings without judgment or criticism.

  • Life can get crazy and things happen, but should you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please do so with at least 24 hours notice, or you will be charged for the appointment.

  • Sessions are $150 for a standard 45-50-minute session. Like many therapists, I do offer a reduced fee scale based on financial need. If you feel you need the benefits of therapy, but can not afford my regular rate, please contact me by phone so we can discuss your particular situation.

If all reduced fee slots are taken, I will be happy to put you on a waiting list until something opens up, or I can help provide you with names of other therapists who may offer the same.

  • I take debit, credit, cash, and checks. I can also accept your FSA and HSA cards. If you are paying by cash, please bring the exact amount as I may not be able to make change.

  • No, I do not. I am considered an "out-of-network" provider. However, if you would like to try to use your “Out of Network” benefits, I can provide you with a receipt, called a Superbill, upon request, which you can submit to your insurance company to receive reimbursement. You will need to meet your "Out of Network" deductible before the insurance company will reimburse you.  Please know that in order to do this I am required by insurance companies to assign you a “Diagnosis Code” which becomes part of your permanent medical record. I recommend calling the number on the back of your insurance card to find out what your specific plan’s policy is for out-of-network mental health providers.
