About Me

Hi, my name is Janice McLeroy.

A smiling woman with short gray hair and glasses working on a laptop indoors, with a window showing trees outside.

I am not your average Licensed Professional Counselor. With over 39 years of experience in both the public and private sectors, I bring unique expertise, insight, and wisdom to my private practice.

I earned my Master's degree and Educational Specialist degree in 1994 and 2009, respectively, from the University of West Georgia. In 2003, I received my License of Professional Counseling (LPC) from the State of Georgia. Additionally, I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an integrative treatment approach that addresses improperly stored memories from traumatic and adverse life events.

My career began in the education field, where I served the families of the Fayette County School System for 30 years, gaining experience at all three educational levels. During my tenure as a counselor, I was honored to receive the School Counselor of the Year award twice at the middle school level.

I was also part of a private counseling practice, providing support to clients ranging from 10-year-olds to adults. In 2017, I established Deeply Rooted after retiring from the public education system. My experience in both school and private practice gives me a unique advantage in helping my clients — both adolescents and their parents.

In addition to being an LPC, I am also a certified life-coach. Life coaching is for those who are primarily focused on the present and future. Coaches help you identify goals, leverage personal strengths, and take action.

Change can be challenging,

but I believe that every individual has the potential to learn and grow. I build rapport easily and use an authentic style that puts my clients at ease. I will meet you where you are, but I won't hesitate to challenge you to take risks in order to reach your goals. Depending on your unique circumstances, I incorporate a variety of counseling styles based on my training and experience.

As a Christian, I approach counseling from a holistic perspective, considering all aspects of your life — spirit, soul (mind/will/emotions), and body. I have witnessed transformative breakthroughs when clients take this approach, but I am also equipped to work with anyone, regardless of their religious, cultural, or ethnic background. I respect and honor each client's right to choose the direction of the therapeutic process.

Deeply Rooted Counseling & Coaching was born out of the verse in Jeremiah 17:8 which says…

"He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and it is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit." (ESV)

Welcome to my office, where I hold space for your journey.

On a personal note…

Georgia has always been home to me, and I reside just 4 miles from the heart of Tyrone.

When I am not in the office, you can find me relaxing by my pond or spending quality time with family and friends. I also enjoy a variety of recreational activities, outdoors as well as photography, tending to my garden and greenhouse, baking, and quilting.

Additionally, I am active in my church in Newnan as well as the Atlanta South Walk to Emmaus organization.
